I have for some time been playing the RPG Dungeons and Dragons. I have always enjoyed the game and its finer points. The ability to create something and more importantly share in that creation is and has been very vital to me. I spend much of my time enjoying not only the camaraderie that D&D affords between my fellow geeks and I, but also the sheer fun of playing someone else for a time.

I have in the past been a member of several fan groups that were dedicated to the idea of D&D. (for those that do not know what a fan group is think Trekkies or Trekkers) I have, in the past, belonged to groups that have risen and fallen for whatever reasons, but now I think that I may have found a new group to join. We call ourselves the Empire of Amardon.

The Empire is about being dedicated to having fun and taking names. We are not strictly a gaming group nor are we strictly a party group. What we are is an amalgamation of the two. We can do both and do both well. I am excited for this and because of it, I look forward to having fun. If you want to become a member we will have a site up and running soon with all of the privileges of becoming a member.

I started this website partly because I was no longer being creative. Work had become a top priority in my life and as such I was beginning to fade in an existence where I was doing the nine-five thing, although later at night. I work as a supervisor at a call center. You know who I am. I am the guy that you talk to when you want things done and you use your angry to get them done, but for the most part they don’t. I like my job but I don’t love it. I love writing and that is why I have created this blog. Some of the things that I write will never see the light of day, some will find their way here, while others will someday be published. I did not, however, begin to write this as complaint of my work or to boost my ego with what I plan on doing with my life. Instead my purpose is simply this, to promote creativity in the work place. We are now at an important juncture in our nation’s history. We just had a economical collapse and ultimately it could get worse, unless we change our way of thinking. Today we are the result of the industrialized society that our fore bearers gave to us. Our school systems were built to carefully place students into the roles that they were intended for: labour, management, or ownership. Those of us who did not do well in classes went immediately to the local factory, picked up the average paying jobs that they had and made stuff. Do not get me wrong, I think stuff is important, I just know what role those poor people played. Those who did slightly better became management, mind you they were not much more than the standard labourer, they just got to listen to the owners complain about how quotas weren’t being met. People wanted those roles however because, and this is especially true in Ohio, the better you got paid the better place that you could live and the better your schools were and the more likely that your kids were going to get a job being miserable working once again for those rare few who became owners or were handed ownership. These rare few did not go to school with the rest of America, they went to the elite schools where they eventually went to elite colleges and universities, only so that they could continue the trend of ownership. However this system no longer works. Mainly because the owners who made so much for themselves by working us to death, have now become the Mega-Rich and no longer want to buy goods from those that they worked for so many years, instead they now want to buy it from people who are also mega-rich and have gotten around having to pay their workers as much. Today, America, has become a victim of this trend, so the question is what do we do? Well the first thing that we need to do is get rid of the way that we perceive intelligence and creativity. I know many very intelligent people who after they got out of school did not do so well because they could not adapt to a situation and I know creative people who did not do well in school who are doing quite well in the real world. So how do we change this? We allow our children to be more creative. Give them an instrument or a paint brush. A Personal Computer or a tool set. Our children must create or we will be forgotten a millenia from now. The Romans were great not only because of their Conquest but also their Creativity. The emperors knew this and they knew how they would endure.  So I say that if we are to endure, if our children will not suffer, we must begin to create.
